The Chitwan Rhinos have added a significant boost to their squad for the upcoming Nepal Premier League (NPL) by signing England international Ravi Bopara. The 39-year-old, known for his exceptional batting and all-round abilities, brings a wealth of experience to the Rhinos lineup.
Bopara has an impressive career with 171 international appearances for England across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. A versatile stroke player, he has made a mark in the global T20 scene with 9,486 runs and 291 wickets in 478 matches. His T20 exploits include strong performances in tournaments like the Bangladesh Premier League, Pakistan Super League, and the IPL, showcasing his skill in sub-continental conditions.
Expressing his excitement, Bopara said, “The passion for cricket in Nepal is unmatched. I’m thrilled to join the Chitwan Rhinos and can’t wait to play in front of such devoted fans.”
Rhinos Strengthen Their Squad
The Rhinos management is optimistic about Bopara’s impact. “Ravi Bopara’s track record speaks volumes. His experience and leadership will add great value to our team on and off the field,” said Managing Director Aayush Neupane.
Bopara joins a strong lineup of foreign players, including England’s Luc Benkenstein, South Africa’s Marchant de Lange, Afghanistan’s Hassan Eisakhil, and Namibia’s Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton.
On the domestic front, the Rhinos feature marquee player Kushal Malla alongside stalwarts like Sharad Vesawakar, and Kamal Singh Airee, and rising talents such as Rijan Dhakal.
The addition of Bopara is expected to elevate the Rhinos’ performance, making them a team to watch in the upcoming NPL season.
