Former Nepal national coach Pubudu Dassanayake has been named the head coach of Janakpur Bolts for the 2024 Nepal Premier League (NPL) season. Dassanayake, who famously led Nepal to their first-ever T20 World Cup appearance in 2014, brings a wealth of experience to the team.
A former international cricketer, Dassanayake played 11 Tests and 16 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Sri Lanka. In addition to his time with Sri Lanka, he also represented Canada on the international stage. His coaching career includes stints with various teams, including guiding the Bhairahawa Gladiators in the Everest Premier League and coaching national teams in the United States, Canada, and Nepal.
Dassanayake made his international debut for Canada in the 2005 ICC Trophy and has since built a strong reputation in both playing and coaching roles. His leadership is expected to be a key asset for the Janakpur Bolts as they aim to make their mark in the upcoming NPL season.
